Explains that the 'DRAGON' project at Winfrith, Dorset, is a joint undertaking under the sponsorship of the European Nuclear Energy Agency, in which 12 countries participate. Shows that it was set up in March, 1959, to conduct research and development on high temperature gas-cooled reactors and to design, construct and operate a reactor experiment. Illustrates the construction of various stages of the Reactor and explains the principles behind the HTGC concept and its promise of economic nuclear power.
