Shows how fishery scientists gather informaton about marine life through use of sonar, computers, underwater photography, etc., as they endeavor to gain new knowledge and perspective of the "inner space" of the sea. Film opens with the poignant story of a herring fisherman whose life's work is endangered by man's careless exploitation of the living resources of the sea. Emphasizes the new two-man submarine of revolutionary design.
