An explanation of the fundamentals of distillation illustrates by examples of methods used in the fractional distillation of crude oil. Studies the following: size of atoms; structure of the hydrocarbon molecules; crude oil mixture of different compounds which are separated for commercial use into petrol and lubricating oils; fractional distillation of mixtures of hydro-carbons by laboratory and industrial processes.
