This 1970s silent news footage for KCTV (now KLST-TV) first captures San Angelo’s Mexican American community celebrating Diez y Seis de Septiembre, or Mexican Independence Day. The festivities were most likely held at Sedeño Plaza, the home of Mexican American community leader Estanislado Sedeño. Sedeño Plaza hosted the annual fiestas patrias celebration from 1946 to 1974. Later, locals attend a circus performance.
