Description: Piano player Al Roberts is hitchhiking east from California. He decides to go to California and marry his girlfriend Sue Harvey, but with little money, he is forced to hitchhike his way across the country. In Arizona, bookie Charles Haskell, Jr. gives him a ride in his convertible car and dies. Al drags the body off the road and drives away intent on abandoning the car near Los Angeles. The next day, as he leaves a gas station, he picks up a hitchhiker, who challenges his identity and ownership of the car. In Hollywood, they rent an apartment, posing as Mr.
