Written by John Keats and narrated by CBS correspondent Harry Reasoner, looks at alarming examples of "apartness" in our society--38 New Yorkers who stood by and watched the cold blooded murder of their neighbor, 60 Chicagoans who ignored a policeman's call for help. Points up some of the reasons for this disturbing direction in which many segments of our society are moving. Examines the family, and looks at the reasons why a breakdown in the closeness of family relationships has contributed to this policy.
