Description: This brief film by filmmaker Paul Hoefler dates to 1945 and takes viewers on a tour through the capital city of Colorado. Denver has a rich heritage dating back to the Old West era. It shows various nature and historic sites in the city including the capital building and the Rocky Mountain Range. The film was created by Paul Hoefler; a photographer and cinematographer most known for his wildlife and tribal scenes. It opens with a map noting the location of Denver in Colorado (:53). The City Park Pavilion (1:10) appears in Spanish style architecture. The building was constructed in 1882. A lake is pictured before and the Rockies behind it. An aerial shot of the city’s expanse follows (1:12). Smoke trails up from the industrial center (1:18). Historic Downtown is zoomed in on (1:35) showing the D & F Clock Tower. The Tabor center appears in the bottom right of the screen (1:50) as yellow school buses cut down the road. A ground view shot shows the yellow bus moving from the curb (1:59). The U.S. Mint in Denver appears (2:05). The gold dome of the capital building gleams under the sun at the end of Colfax Avenue (2:19). A close shot of the dome follows (2:39). The state seal (3:06) and the state flag appear (3:15). Buffalo Bill Cody was set to rest on Lookout Mountain above the city of Denver (3:27). He remains one of the most iconic of figures in the west. A plaque is engraved in his honor (3:36). Buffalo Bill’s Memorial Museum appears in Lookout Mountain Park (3:45). The Rockies encircle a green valley (4:08). A power plant (4:23) precedes a herd of livestock (4:28). The rancher hops onto his chestnut horse behind the cattle (4:35). Jagged red rocks offer contrast against green hills (4:41). The Colorado River bubbles over stones (4:51). Flower blossoms are highlighted (5:05). Snow cakes the ridges of the Rocky Mountain Range (5:11). Another picturesque shot follows with puffy white clouds above (5:19). The film concludes and has been a Paul Hoefler Production.
