Deep sea diving how it began

Japanese divers on Cedros actually cultivated the ocean floor to harvest this purple seaweed. In Japan, they processed it to [music] make agar for medical cultures. We found out how they did it. They used this primitive hard hat gear to dive in water about 90 ft deep with the diver connected by an airline to a compressor on the surface. >> [music] >> We were filming on the surface one day when they persuaded me to [music] try on the gear. I was naturally curious, so I let them lower me over the side. Without a doubt, what happened then changed the whole course of my life. Suddenly, I was all alone in a shimmering blue-green world beneath the sea. An experience which I never will [music] forget.
