Description: Operations of the Alcoa Aluminium Company in Western Australia. The first bauxite mining operations commenced in 1963 at Jarrahdale, Western Australia. The bauxite is taken by rail to the refinery at Kwinana from where the alumina is shipped to the smelters at Point Henry, Victoria and to industry all over the world. The benefits to Australia as a whole from the establishment of one of the largest aluminium industries in the world are stated.
