Crucifixion: theme and variations

Description: Interpretation by three Flemish artists, of the theme of the Crucifixion from the original paintings in the Johnson Collection at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The following are studied: “Christ carrying the Cross” by the Master of the Turin Adoration (1490-1510); “Christ on the Cross and the Virgin and St. John” by Roger van der Weyden (1399-1464); and “Pieta” by Gerard David (1460-1523).
