Description: Produced by RKO. Drives home the fact that there is little difference as long as results are the same between the patriotic but thoughtless American-can and the Axis saboteur. A girl inspecting rifle cartridges in a war plant—an American—takes time for an extra smoke, neglects to fill her place on the inspection line, and allows several boxes of uninspected cartridges to pass as O.K. One of these cartridges, a dud, later finds its way into the rifle of an American soldier somewhere in the South Pacific. On scouting patrol, the soldier aims, presses the trigger and fires—harmlessly. He is killed by a Jap bullet. Another patriotic American, a businessman, takes Saturday afternoon off to go to a ball game, fails to leave instructions with his secretary. Through his negligence, a preboat supplies do not reach a convoy sailing for England. Their ship torpedoed, six American airmen drift 25 days in a lifeboat scantly provisioned. Five of the men lose their lives; the sixth, his mind. "As the title implies, this film shows how important every working hour is to the war effort. Especially important to all workers in factories."
