Complete Record: Wooden eggs and a wooden block placed in a birds’ nest to see if the bird takes any notice. CU of Ivan Pavlov. DOG eats with a saliva tube implanted in his mouth. Animation of DOGs’ unconditioned reflexes and activity in the saliva glands. Shots of more DOGs strapped with saliva tubes being fed rationed quantities of food while listening to a metronome. Baby birds in a bed of cotton balls prompted to ask for food when a scientist imitates its mothers birdcall. A puppy is tied up and fed only bread and water until a certain age when it is fed meat. Bear cubs prance around and play in the woods. Squirrels do the same. Squirrel is chased by a ferret. Fish tank filled with goldfish is hooked up to a bell to demonstrate conditioned reflexes at feeding time. A scientist leads a collie into a lab where it is tied to a rope and a saliva tube, metronome ticking away nearby, the DOGs’ natural response is to sleep. CU of Pavlov. MS of Pavlov talking to a group of intrigued listeners. A nurse and doctor enter the hospital room of several sleeping patients. DOG again strapped to rationed food mechanism, this time a certain note a scale provokes the DOG to eat. Woman at organ plays notes. DOG falls asleep, wakes up, eats. Shot of forest, a deer sleeps, a wolf howls in the distance, the deer wakes up. Camera pans across the wilderness following the deer’s escape. A man and his hunting DOG walk through the brush, the DOG smells something and is compelled to make like a statue pointing in the direction of the scent.
