Description: An eight-minute film containing footage pertaining to the everyday life of Emil Clemens Horst and his family. Horst was a major figure in the hops industry in the United States and abroad during the 1930s. The first segment of the film highlights a family outing. The second segment shows the processing of hops, and the third segment is of a trip to Yosemite National Park in California. Emil Horst is identifiable in the first and third segments. TECHNICAL NOTE: The last segment of this film (6:24) was shot using Kodacolor film, an early lenticular color film process using special filters on both the camera and home projector to create a color image. You can see the vertical lenticular lines in the image. The film and equipment were expensive and the end results were minimal at best. This HD scan does not show the color information in the film as the process to recreate it is complicated. Lenticular film is rare with a small number of reels still in existence.
