It was made by Teleketics, a short-lived Catholic media production company. directed by Bruce Baker, written by William Whitehead and Bruce Baker, with cinematography by Andrew Janczak. It stars Linda Risk, Wanda Shannon, David Frankhan, Russel Arms, Jim Chandler, and others (full cast list at 10:53). The film tells the story of how an intoxicated man hits and paralyzes a young girl after consuming alcohol with coworkers, and how he responds to the tragedy. The film opens with the horrific incident as the drunk driver veers around a large truck to avoid a stop light, and hits the girl as she moves thru a cross walk (:37). Police cars zoom onto the scene (:50). A flash back segment shows the driver drinking alcohol with coworkers (1:02) as they follow him with more booze as he slips into the driver’s seat. He places blame on the young girl by telling the police that she had come out of nowhere (1:11). The mother arrives on scene (1:38), the girl is set onto a stretcher (1:55) and the offending driver is pushed into the back of the police car (2:24). Upon visiting the hospital where the girl is receiving treatment, the driver learns from her angry parents that she had been paralyzed (3:27). The driver, named ‘Ray’, desperately tries to convince others he was not at fault showcasing a common effect of substance abuse, denial (5:04). At the auto shop (7:21) he again places blame elsewhere, this time pointing to the lack of signal on the corner. The dent from the accident is seen at (7:34). Ray visits a friend and inquires about sleeping pills as he cannot sleep even though the courts had cleared him of any legal fault (8:25). Ray returns to the hospital a third time and gets in to see the young girl who immediately recognizes him as the driver due to the guilt expressed on his face (9:23). After noticing the innocence and capacity for forgiveness from the young girl, Ray breaks down and admits his own guilt (9:42). The film closes as the parents arrive and agree to let the man return again to visit the girl (10:38). [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] she came out of nowhere but she just appeared all of a sudden instantly she was there and he had this traffic signal to turn left to right uh i didn't see her okay now which direction did she come from she come from is there an ambulance coming somebody's going to take care of us we've got an ambulance coming it should be here in a few seconds help me somebody [Applause] [Music] people back up on the curb please [Applause] [Applause] get it excuse me yes could you tell me which room carol delaney's in please i'm sorry she's not allowed any visitors oh okay thanks you're welcome that's him are you sure what are you doing here i came to see if there was something i could do yeah there's something you can do you can move the clock back and unparalyze my daughter parrot i i don't know what to say don't say anything and don't tell me it wasn't your fault your insurance company already called and told me that this morning my daughter was running and playing maybe for the last time in her life running and playing what do you want i want you to trade places with her i want you to feel the pain she doesn't deserve i want you dead please gentlemen let's go it's all in the accident report the police cleared me on the drunk driving charge i didn't have that much to drink they're ready these contracts need i'm sorry it was an accident a pure and simple accident there was no way in the world i could avoid hitting that kid i'll expect to hear from you kind of rough huh no no not really bob insurance man and a lawyer tell me to leave it in their hands well i'm totally in the clear well good say uh can i give drafting an idea of when you'll have these designs oh bob i'm sorry i'll get right on good boy and the minute i hit the brakes they locked and i skidded right into the kit poor kid come on yo sir you don't have to try to convince me right thanks a lot i just can't seem to get this thing out of my head how's the child doing i don't know so you haven't tried to see her again after what her father said to me her father's upset upset what about me how do you think i feel how do you feel right sir sir do you have permission to be on the floor at this hour um no no i don't then i'm sorry but you'll have to leave the floor visiting hours are over oh yeah i understand but you see i worked late and i thought i'd stop by and see how the delaney kid is doing she's doing as well as can be expected how well is that i mean will she be paralyzed for the rest of her life it's still too early to know i'm sorry but you will have to leave oh yeah i say yes of course um thank you [Music] [Applause] i mean it's it's like combat your buddies get killed now you wish things were different but they're not you have to face reality right right okay now innocent people get hurt and there's still nothing you can do about it i mean but that's how life is you know and in a couple of years she may be up and walking around anyway so what am i worried about hey that's better that's much better what watch chick at all mr hendrix yeah you know if there was a signal on that corner this would never have happened i bet if i could get enough people to write in and complain yeah yeah i'll complain y'all [Music] friend a friend i don't think sleeping pills are what you need alex friend a friend why don't you suggest something therapeutic why don't you visit the kid are you kidding come on the last thing in the world that family wants to see is me and you know i didn't say see the family see the kid not like she may be crippled for life what am i supposed to talk to her about the weather how about telling you you're sorry sorry for what it wasn't my fault now i just got through telling you the police cleared me on everything it wasn't my fault marvelous then legally you ought to be able to sleep so ah [Music] hi i know you you're mr hendrix that's right how do you know me i can just tell because you look hurt you're the one that's that's hurt [Music] oh my god what am i done [Music] i'm so sorry i'm glad you came i'm glad i came too my father said not to expect you but i knew you would come [Music] can you ever forgive me i already forgave [Music] and then come back [Music] please [Music] so you
