Documents the flight of Mariner 2 which was launched on Aug 27, 1962-our first effort to obtain scientific and some of its features that have been determined by astronomers. Presents the flight profile, trajectory, spacecraft features, and the experiments conducted throughout 109 days and 180 million miles of travel. A few preliminary scientific findings are summarized.
