Four boys are shown on a day’s excursion in the Rhineland. As they sail with a pilot of a barge from Kaub to St Goar, navigation and the Rhine’s industrial importance are explained. The boys climb the Spitzenstein and see vineyards, potato patches, castles and historical villages of the Rhine.
