Teaching Film Custodians abridged classroom version of the 1945 Paramount Pictures feature film, "A Medal for Benny". The film focuses on Pantera, a small California fishing village on Santa Cruz Bay, during World War II. When the town fathers learn that one of its "paisano" boys from across the tracks, an outcast who had joined the army to escape public scorn, has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously, they pretend that he and his family are cherished, eminent citizens of the community. Charley Martin, the deceased hero's father, refuses to allow the townfolk to commercialize the presentation of the Medal to him., Focuses on a small Califronian town during World War II which learns that one of its "paisano" boys from across the railroad tracks has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously.
