A parable of Southern life featuring an all-Black cast. This light fantasy tells the story of Little Joe Jackson, a shiftless gambler apparently killed in a crap game. His good wife, Petunia, prays so hard that the Lord grants Joe six months to redeem himself. The Lord's General and Lucifer, Jr. do battle for Joe's soul, with the latter aided by the temptress, Georgia Brown. In the end, Petunia saves her husband and the two are able to walk to their cabin in the sky. Songs include: Happiness is a thing called Joe, Life's full o' consequence, Lil black sheep, and Going up. (Does not circulate)
Little Joe, a man killed over gambling debts, is restored to life by angelic powers. He is given six months to redeem his soul and become worthy of entering Heaven. Little Joe abandons his wife for Georgia Brown, and the two embark on a life of hedonistic pleasure.
