Description: Dramatically depicts the plight of the peasants of northeastern Brazil and shows the work of communist leaders (specifically Francisco Julião) in urging open revolt of the people. Reviews the plans of the government for land reform. Describes the attitude of the landlords who apparently care little about the appalling conditions under which the peasants live, but only regard them as lazy and shiftless.
