Description: Probes the complexities of book censorship by focusing on the Fort Frye Local School District in southeastern Ohio. Centering on the conflicts arising from the assignment of Robert Newton Peck's A Day No Pigs Would Die, the question of parental objection and possible censorship was partially resolved in the formation of parent/teacher discussion sessions called Books Our Children Read. The purpose of this successful program is to foster parental appreciation of a broad English curriculum and enhance communication between teachers and parents.
