Black Communications Project (1967)

[Music] black spre spring of 1967 the black students union of San Francisco State College moved through chairman Jimmy Garrett to bring ryer Leroy Jones to San Francisco to participate in what came to be known as the black communications project the black student the black man in White America making himself known knowing himself in the face of all kinds of enemies he strives to find his own this is true for all black people the communications projects were designed to move educate and Delight black people in the west the project brought together the black student union the brothers working at the black house and black Arts West these groups formed a working hole known for that time and for all times to come as the Black Arts of lion black Communications to cut through the gauze of devilish blankness raised around us in America to penetrate with black truth to Black brothers and sisters because we are all bogged down in the muck of White America white people many times speak through our people's mouths we need black Communications to speak to get through to get through to get through the black artist must recreate black people in the image of their strength and beauty but also recreate the devilish Network that entangles them and defeats them temporarily tell it like it is but also tell it like it ought to be no matter who don't like it see that brother beginning to dig them but now missing from us are heroes people like Nat Turner people like Denmark VY yeah people like Malcolm X yeah Malcolm X H rap Brown new chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee introduced for the first time to black people in the west by stokeley carmichel black Communications Fiore Auditorium San Francisco this brother just got out of jail for disturbing the peace
