Description: Reels A-C and D of KNTV San Jose broadcast news footage for March 27, 1966. Reel 1: Segment 1 (silent): Shot of exterior of Newman Center at San Jose State College, then interior shots of large crowd of students inside auditorium listening to a speaker at the microphone, and musician with guitar. Story on the Amigos Anonymous, a group of Bay Area college students who dedicate their summers to helping residents of underdeveloped areas in Mexico. Students listened as recent Peace Corps returnee Francis Ryan related examples of community development techniques he learned during tour of duty in Honduras; following a musical performance, the audience also heard Father Patrick LaBelle talk about "The Community." Segment 2 (silent): Tri-County Science Fair at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville. Students milling around science exhibitions including, "How does mold grow?" "Why have shark attacks skyrocketed in past 8 years?" "Development of scanning x-ray as a flying spot scanner for bio-medical applications"; "ionization of gases"; "vectors and harmonic motion"; and the MALFUNCT-3 computer. Projects also included a mouse held in underwater tank to explore effects of water pressure. Segment 3 (silent): Parachute jumping display over Monterey harbor, organized by Monterey Peninsula Flying Club. Shots of crowd looking up at sky, some with binoculars, as parachute jumpers descend into the water and are picked up by a motorboat. Reel 2: Segment 1: Monterey Police Department training sessions in mass arrest techniques begun at suggestion of California Disaster Office in response to mass anti-war demonstrations. Shots of men seated on the ground, with arms linked, as police officers attempt to pick them up and arrest them.
