Description: Summary: Many of the Bakhtiari people of southern Iran are nomads who are dependent on their flocks of sheep, goats and cattle. Every year the needs of their animals force them to embark upon a hazardous journey of some 150 miles as they drive their flocks across the Zagros mountain range from their winter grazing in Khuzestan to the summer pastures of Esfahan. This film follows the trek of 500 families of the Babadi sub-tribe and their livestock, depicting how they tackle and overcome many obstacles, from icy, fast-flowing rivers and sheer mountain faces, to changeable weather conditions and the high altitude. It shows various aspects of the nomadic life and is a record of a centuries-old tradition that is, in all probability, about to vanish. Awards: American Film Festival (Red Ribbon)
