Automotive Safety Foundation PSA - 1960's - Shirley Shahan

Voice-over: "Shirley Shahan is a professional driver. Her specialty is drag racing. She's a winner. One reason she's a winner is her attitude towards safety, both on and off track. "

Shirley: "Many people think drag racing is a rough sport for a woman, but I honestly feel a lot safer in my stocker than when I'm driving my truck from one strip to another, when I see some of the chances other drivers take, it really makes me believe in the safety slogan that says, always look out for the other guy as a housewife and mother I'm very much concerned about the safety of my children. We take a lot of short rides, running errands and shopping, and we have one standing rule. The car doesn't move until the belts are buckled. You don't have to be a professional driver to make safety, a full time job. Even this close to home, the slogan should apply. Always look out for the other guy."
