Description: This 1960s film takes viewers on a tour of the Heritage House in Austin. Originally known as the Penn House, Heritage House was erected in 1847 and completed in 1880. The Heritage Society of Austin purchased the property in 1958, using it for its offices until 1979. Established in 1953, the Heritage Society is now known as Preservation Austin. It is a non-profit organization that works to preserve buildings, historical sites, art, documents, and other artifacts with historical and cultural value. Through its advocacy and financial support, at least 300 historic properties in Austin have been preserved, including the Driskill Hotel, Paramount Theater, Governor’s Mansion, Laguna Gloria, and many private residences.
