Shows the men fishing through the ice with spears. Documentary of how the Netsilik Eskimos set up an autumn camp in the river valley, build temporary shelters, called karmaks, of snow and animal skins, and fish through the river of ice. Recommended for use with Man, a course of study., Part One: Netsilik Eskimos build karmaks of snow or ice covered with skins as shelters until the snow is packed enough to build igloos. The men fish and the women gather moss. Family meal of fish is cooked and eaten in the karmak. Part Two: Eskimos build igloo and construct a sled of tent skins, frozen fish, caribou antlers, and seal-skin thong. Woman makes caribou parka, children play, family packs up and moves down river.
