Description: Recreates the story of Aspen, Colorado in the Rocky Mountains. Created in 1879 by the first silver strike of the Rockies, Aspen grew swiftly to an electrified city of 12,000. When the silver market disappeared in 1893, the town dwindled to 400 people. In 1949 the town became news as the site of the Goethe Bi-centennial Convocation. Albert Schweitzer, Jose Ortega y Gasset, Ludwig Lewisohn and others came to Aspen. Pictures the new Aspen as a summer center for music and thought, a winter delight for skiers and executives.
