Um I just got a speech here that I'm going to go through. And yeah, so again, good afternoon. My name is Tyler. I served as a hospital corman in the Navy. Uh I'm a conscience objector and a community organizer. I'd like to thank Veterans for Peace for allowing me the opportunity to speak on their behalf, as well as shout out the amazing work they do to combat militarism and the climate change that follows around the world. Throughout my seven years of service, I learned a lot. I learned that I wasn't actually serving the American people, but rather the interest of the wealthy elite. No. And I also learned that the US military is full of contradictions. For instance, why is it that the US military's budget for 2025 is shaping up to be $1 trillion? $1 trillion worth of our hard-earned money stolen and used to slaughter innocent Palestinians and bully the rest of the world through military force. But God forbid the American people are guaranteed any kind of free healthcare or a roof over our head. The US military has 800 plus military bases around the world. Does anyone know the amount of emissions that are released into the atmosphere in order to support this kind of infrastructure? The answer is I don't. Me neither. And you know what? That's because the US military refuses refuses to track their emissions. However, groups have been able to make estimates of this data by tracking military fuel purchases at just domestic bases alone. This doesn't even include the ones around the world. And they have come to the conclusion that the US military industrial complex is institutionally the largest looting force in the entire world. This excessive use of fuel is an ex existential threat to humanity and is spearheading the demise of our planet. And instead of decreasing the amount of military presence we have around the world, our government continuously aims to seow fear into the American people by framing China as a beast that stands to put our freedom in jeopardy and uses that same fear to justify us having the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world in an attempt to go to war with China. around. Look for anyone that I don't know about you guys, but I'd much rather have affordable housing. Instead of homeless veterans and a military that can start a war on the other side of the world at the snap of a finger. And we're supposed to believe that China, a country with a single overseas military outpost, is our enemy today. Um, I'm sorry to say, but contrary to popular betrayals, China is not the beast it's made out to be. The real beast is the insatiable appetite of the of US imperialism. And the real threat to our freedom are the Republicans and the Democrats who continue to turn our world into a battlefield. We need a new system that seeks to abolish war as an instrument of national policy. a system that doesn't meddle in the internal affairs of other countries overtly and covertly and robs them of their precious resources. Lastly, we need a system that puts the working class in power rather than the people who bought their way into office. See, we the people, the working class, already run society, and we don't need these billionaires and politicians to tell us how to do it. The Democrats and the Republicans would like us to believe that every right we have today was given to us out of the kindness of their hearts, or that the issues we face today will work themselves out. I'm here to tell you this is not the case. Every single right we have and every conflict that has been resolved is a product of the struggle and the sacrifices that workingass people before us were willing to make. It is not enough for us to beg the Democrats or the Republicans to give us a few concessions here and there. Absolutely. Let me break because we have seen recently that they are willing to take it right back. We the working class cannot beg for our rights anymore. A better world is possible but only if we are willing to organize, struggle and sacrifice. Thank you guys. Thank you. Some are saying that we have so many choices to protest like it's an all aart menu we can choose from. Let's not accept anything that divides us. We want the whole menu. Let's reject the hidden racism and worked views of history. We don't believe in fantasies that create policies that justify the killing of millions. Let's protect everyone. We are here to find equitable and loving solutions without killing people. When we win, everyone wins. We are the majority. Perhaps a person with a kafia, which represents peasant farmers regardless of religion. Perhaps a black person, an Asian, a Latinx, an indigenous person, a child, an LGBT queer person, or a blondhaired, blue-eyed person right next to you. We're all together. connect and love. We will make decisions from a place of deep, deep, deep love. We will stand and walk together. We may walk out together. Perhaps in the very near future, demand justice and equality for everyone.
