Description:
Made in 1944 and released in 1945, "Another Chance" introduced the United Nations to audiences of American G.I.s. Created by the Walt Disney Productions studio, the film presents the concept of the UN through easy-to-understand graphics. It discusses the organization of the General Assembly and Security Council, and notes that "50 nations" have signed up. The film emphasizes that the most important reason for the founding of the UN is to stop wars. This toon featured in the "Army-Navy Screen Magazine, No. 65", issued in November 1945. The United Nations was established by the Charter of the United Nations and Statute of the International Court of Justice. The Charter was signed on 26 June 1945 by the representatives of the 50 countries mentioned in the film; Poland signed on 15 October 1945. There were 51 Founding Members in 1945. There are currently 193 UN Member States.
