Amarilly Of Clothes - Line Alley

Tells the story of Amarilly, the daughter of a tenderhearted Irish washerwoman who lives in Clothes-line Alley. Tells how she arouses the jealousy of her bartender-boyfriend when she befriends a wealthy young dilletante-artist who is injured in a brawl during a slumming party at the saloon where Amarilly works as a cigarette girl.

Mary Pickford plays Amarilly, the daughter of a widowed San Francisco scrubwoman. She is engaged to bartender Terry McGowan, who gets her a job as a cigarette girl in his cafe. She meets Gordon Phillips, a wealthy but frivolous young man, who is a society sculptor. Mrs. Phillips tries to teach Amarilly high class manners in a Pygmalion-like experiment.
