Description: A study of the construction and launching of Alouette II, the second ionosphere-probing space satellite, designed and built by Canada's Defense Research Board in cooperation with United States National Aeronautics and Space Agency to carry into orbit, to probe the top side of the ionosphere, to investigate space radio noises and cosmic rays, and to report on electron densities and temperatures near the satellite itself and a smaller U S Explorer satellite.
