Description: Acorns were the great staple food of the Indians of California. Depicts methods used by Indians residing in the Redwood Belt to prepare the tank oak acorns. Demonstrates the manner of harvesting, building storage caches, grinding, sifting and leaching the meal to remove bitter tannic acid, and stone-boiling to prepare acorn mush.
