Description: The work of the Customs and Excise Department and the many and varied investigations and duties carried out by this department at ports and aerodromes throughout the British Isles, as well as the work of Resident Excise Offices at breweries, distilleries, oil refineries, and petrol storage tanks. One third of the annual revenue of Great Britain, one thousand million pounds, comes from Customs and Excise duties.
