Complete Record: Subject: This Department of Defense film begins with a short history of Korea - Land and People up to the creation of the truce treaty of the DMZ. The remainder depicts the Korean War in chronological sequence from June 25, 1950, to the truce agreement on July 27, 1953. Actual combat scenes follow advances and retreats of the United Nations Forces. Some footage of the amphibious landing at Inchon is shown. All original and excellent footage of war- authentic (narration may be less so- rather a propaganda piece- pro American, anti communist). Shots: Refugees, jeeps, maps, surrender of North Koreans, firing rifles, tanks, United Nations, psychological warfare- playing messages, dropping them from the sky (good footage), combat airplanes in flight, parachute drops (more good shots of thousands of troops falling from the sky), cow used to transport gear, ships at sea, arriving at shore, villages burning, soldier smokes and rides a bike, division in cold weather uniforms, village people pray, “shattered communist forces”, prisoners in quilted uniform of China, ship in winter storm, airplanes with wings folded, cargo planes, air drops in parachutes land (turkey dinner), soldiers feed on drumsticks, Korean soldiers march, Marines, combat in the snow, mortar rounds frozen, planes dropping small bombs, evacuation of American soldiers and North Koreans, harbor, as they leave bombs explode in their wake at harbor, military withdrawal, civilians try to get out, carrying belongings on back, General Ridgeway, UN troops pull out of Seoul. Overhead shots, explosions - destroying what is left behind, at camp soldiers in tents, drink, bathe, “Operation Killer”, Seoul in ruins, rocket launchers, machine guns, amazing shot of bridge burning and soldiers running toward camera to escape rapidly moving flames, helicopters deliver troops and gear, tuce talks break down, saber jets in combat (good footage), ships firing (also good footage), UN delegates, empty mortar shells for as far as the eye can see, battles: Heartbreak Ridge, Bunker Hill, Bloody Ridge.
