1978 Part I

1. Dead End- Skillful clay sculpture and a fine sense of detail combine to give this exquisite film a mood and impact far beyond that normally achieved in animation. Janet Sapero is the talented filmmaker. 2. Till the Curtain Rises- Peter Herb employs special effects as a backdrop for dance in this fanciful little glimpse into a dancers's dream world. 3. Verite- Filmmaking student Michael Kennedy rearranges time and space for his audience, leaving us puzzling over the story anf our role in it. 4. A Man's a Man for A'That- This superb film takes us to a roadside cafe during World War II. Sensitivity, filmmaking, and a sure eye for the period are all displayed by students of the University of Southern California's Division of Cinema.
