[Narrator] In Washington, civil rights for all Americans were given legal guarantee just 101 years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. An equally historic document the Civil Rights Bill was signed into law by President Johnson within a few hours of its passage by the House of Representatives. [Music playing]. The 75 pens Mr. Johnson used to sign the bill were given to those who had worked hardest for it. Among them was Dr. Martin Luther King who later was to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
