1957 Campaign Firecamp Training

Description: This series of three short black and white public service announcements stresses good habits for preventing fires while recreating in the outdoors. Recommended practices for extinguishing match and cigarette when smoking in the woods; safely building and extinguishing an outdoor campfire and practices followed by a careful fisherman while pausing to take a smoke along a stream are demonstrated. Curbing human carelessness was the main focus for fire prevention efforts in California through the early 20th century as it was identified as the largest cause for wildfires at that time.
