Auf einem unbebauten Grundstück inmitten einer Berliner Wohngegend, das voll Gerümpel ist, haben sich die Kinder Felix, Sascha, Regina und Astrid ein Spielhaus gebaut. Beim Spielen im Haus und auf dem Grundstück entstehen Konflikte in der Kindergruppe als Folge der kindlichen Auseinandersetzung mit den aufgetretenen Problemen, die durch Wasser, Luft, Müll und Umweltgestaltung thematisiert werden. Es wird deutlich, wie die Kinder auf ihre eigene Art und Weise mit den Problemen umgehen und wie sie dabei auch die sozialen Konflikte untereinander lösen. Ein Bezug zu entsprechenden 'großen' Umweltproblemen wird jeweils über eine überzeichnende Fantasieszene hergestellt. Auf einem unbebauten Grundstück einer städtischen Wohngegend hat sich eine Gruppe von Kindern ein Spielhaus gebaut. Selbstverständlicher Bestandteil ihres Spiels ist Wasser, das sie aus dem Keller eines benachbarten Mietshauses holen und das von jedem Kind zu einem anderen Zweck benötigt wird. Als Felix wieder einmal einen Eimer Wasser für die Gruppe gebracht hat und Astrid ihrem Kuscheltier Wasser zum Trinken geben möchte, bemerkt sie, dass das Wasser verschmutzt ist. Es stellt sich heraus, dass Sascha seine schmutzigen Hände mit Seife in dem Eimer gewaschen hat. Felix, Astrid und Regina sind verärgert, weil sie nun das Wasser nicht mehr benutzen können. Felix versucht, das Wasser zu filtern, doch die Trinkproben zeigen ihm, dass sein Bemühen erfolglos bleibt. Felix' Gedanken: '...und dann habe ich mir vorgestellt, was passieren würde, wenn wir zu Hause kein sauberes Wasser mehr hätten, wenn aus dem Wasserhahn nur noch dreckiges Wasser kommen würde', leiten den Fantasieteil ein. Er zeigt Szenen aus Felix' Wohnung: der Vater seift sich mit braunem Rasierschaum ein; das Wasser ist so trüb, dass man den Goldfisch in seinem Glas nicht mehr sehen kann; die gewaschene Wäsche hat braune Flecken; im Radio warnt der Sprecher vor dem Gebrauch des verunreinigten Wassers. When Felix has once again brought a bucket of water for the group and Astrid wants to give her cuddly toy water to drink, she notices that the water is dirty. It turns out that Sascha has washed his dirty hands with soap in the bucket. Felix, Astrid and Regina are upset because now they can't use the water. Felix tries to filter the water, but the drinking samples show him that his efforts are unsuccessful. Felix's thoughts: '...and then I imagined what would happen if we no longer had clean water at home, if only dirty water came out of the tap', introduce the fantasy part. It shows scenes from Felix's apartment: his father soaps himself with brown shaving cream; the water is so murky that you can no longer see the goldfish in his glass; the washed laundry has brown stains; on the radio, the speaker warns against using the contaminated water.
