Mitglieder eines Lehrlingsstammtisches im Jugendzentrum (JUZE) Weiterstadt berichten über ihre gegenwärtige Ausbildungssituation. An drei Beispielen, der Ausbildung zum Verkäufer/Einzelhandelskaufmann, Informationselektroniker und Maurer, werden unterschiedliche Formen von Ausbildung vorgestellt: Stufenausbildung im Einzelhandel, Stufenausbildung in der Lehrwerkstatt eines Industriebetriebes sowie die überbetriebliche Ausbildung der Handwerkskammer. In der Selbstdarstellung des Lehrlingsstammtisches wird eine besondere Form von Freizeitgestaltung zur Diskussion gestellt. In den ersten Szenen stellen sich die Autoren des Films vor: 'Die Leute vom Lehrlingsstammtisch vom Jugendzentrum Weiterstadt'. Es folgen einige kurze Informationen zu den verschiedenen Aktivitäten des Lehrlingsstammtischs und der Hinweis auf die Intention des vorliegenden Films: 'An drei Beispielen wollen wir zeigen, was für Erfahrungen wir während der Ausbildung gemacht haben'. Das erste Beispiel stellt Gabi vor. Sie befindet sich im dritten Jahr ihrer Lehre zur Einzelhandelskauffrau in einem großen Kaufhaus. Gabi empfindet ihre Ausbildung als höchst langweilig, sie beklagt sich darüber, dass die Lehrlinge zu der in der Abteilung anfallenden 'Drecksarbeit' abkommandiert werden. Anschließend äußert sich der Kaufhausdirektor zu Fragen der Lehrlingsausbildung. Im nächsten Beispiel beschreibt Jan seine Situation in einern Elektrokonzern, wo er zum Nachrichtengerätemechaniker ausgebildet wird. Jan weist darauf hin, dass hier pro Lehrstelle durchschnittlich zehn Bewerbungen vorgelegen haben; auf diese Situation führt Jan auch die Konkurrenz und die mangelnde Solidarität unter den Auszubildenden zurück. Es folgt ein Gespräch mit dem Lehrmeister über die Leistungsanforderungen, die an die Auszubildenden gestellt werden. Das dritte Beispiel zeigt Aufnahmen aus dem Berufsbildungszentrum der Handwerkskammer: hier befindet sich Matheis im ersten Jahr einer Maurerlehre. Der Film schließt mit einer Diskussion der Jugendlichen vom Lehrlingsstammtisch über Probleme der Lehrlingsausbildung. Three examples - training as a salesperson/retail clerk, information electronics technician, and bricklayer - are used to present different forms of training: step-by-step training in retail, step-by-step training in the training workshop of an industrial company, and inter-company training at the Chamber of Crafts. In the self-presentation of the apprentice round table, a special form of leisure activity is put up for discussion. In the first scenes, the authors of the film introduce themselves: 'The people from the apprentice round table at the Weiterstadt Youth Center'. This is followed by some brief information about the various activities of the apprentice round table and a reference to the intention of the film: 'We want to use three examples to show what experiences we had during our training'. The first example is presented by Gabi. She is in her third year of training as a retail saleswoman in a large department store. Gabi finds her training extremely boring and complains that the apprentices are assigned to do the 'dirty work' in the department. The department store manager then comments on issues relating to apprentice training. In the next example, Jan describes his situation at an electronics company, where he is training to become a communications equipment mechanic. Jan points out that there were an average of ten applications for each apprenticeship position; Jan attributes the competition and lack of solidarity among the trainees to this situation. This is followed by a conversation with the master craftsman about the performance requirements placed on the trainees. The third example shows footage from the Chamber of Crafts' vocational training center, where Matheis is in his first year of a bricklaying apprenticeship.
