The indigenous peoples of Peru, descendants of a ruling class that gave rise to numerous advanced civilizations, developed ingenious social structures, and possessed a brilliant understanding of the secrets of nature, now live in poverty on the margins of society, often exploited. The film tells of the life of the indigenous people in the Andes and in the slums of Lima, and of their religiosity. It reports on the Church's commitment to justice and on projects by the episcopal relief organization Misereor to improve the social situation of the indigenous people.
