Der Film bringt Vergleiche von Arbeitervierteln früherer Zeit und dieser Gebiete zur DDR Zeit. Der Kommentar verweist auf die DDR Kampagnen 'Schöner unsere Städte und Dörfer', 'Die goldene Hausnummer' und auf die Altbausanierung mit Hilfe von polnischen Fachleuten. Der Film enthält Beispiele zur Ensemblegestaltung mit Springbrunnen, Blumenrabatten, Sitzgelegenheiten, Plastiken. Der Film veranschaulicht den Zusammenhang von Form, Farbe und Landschaft an Städtebeispielen Dresden, Neubrandenburg. The documentary shows a survey of GDR citizens and their demands on living space and the environment.
