Mary Had A Little Lamb

[Music] do you know the poem mary had a little lamb let's all read it together mary had a little lamb its fleece was white as snow and everywhere that mary went the lamb was sure to go it followed her to school one day which was against the rule it made the children laugh and play to see a lamb in school and so the teacher turned it out but still it lingered near and waited patiently about till mary did appear why does the lamb love mary so the eager children cry why mary loves the land you know the teacher did reply that's the end of the poet but wouldn't you like to know more about mary and the land and the school they went to how can we find out well it isn't really hard and a little lamb its fleece was white as snow think about the lamp pink here it is a soft little furry little white blue lamb it's having its breakfast of grass and flowers and here comes mary from the farmhouse where she lives the lamb sees the bottle of milk that mary has brought from the house [Music] and the little lamb loves mary for taking such good care of it the lamb's soft wooly coat is called the fleece see how white it is just as white as snow [Music] now we know that everywhere that mary went the lamb was sure to go but where did they go on such a beautiful spring day mary would go out among the flowers and pick some for her mother and of course the lamb was sure to go with her now you may be sure the lamb wasn't much help in picking the flowers but it did like to smell them and even eat a few sometimes they would go for walks in the country near the farm the lamb was always pleased when mary led the way across the old wooden bridge because that meant they were going to the little pond where the iris grew here they would sit and talk [Music] now some people might say that they really couldn't talk to each other but you might just as well say that a little girl or boy can't talk with a dog [Music] mary ander lamb often visited the other animals the charles were usually friendly probably they thought the lamb wasn't quite as handsome as their old cats but one day when mary was playing in the barnyard and the lamb was nosy about she found out there were some places the lamb was not welcomed so she told her dog sally to help look after the lab and see that it didn't get hurt but mostly mary and the lamb would go walking about the big farm and you know everywhere that mary went the lamb was sure to go [Music] it followed her to school one day which was against the rule now of course you couldn't possibly expect a lamb to know anything about rules it didn't even know mary was going to school it was just following her as it always did just following along or that you mustn't follow me set perry the lamb just followed the law you can't go to school really dear lamb there's no place to put you and nothing for you to do beside it white against the rule now barry can just slip away hurry ah the lamb doesn't see her now to leave the road slip through the fence just like a game of hide and seek only go off to school alone at the poor little lamb is lost it just doesn't know where mary went or does it oh dear go home go home [Applause] well there was nothing for mary to do but hurry inside and hope that no one had seen the followed her to school one day which was against the rule [Music] [Applause] now the poem tells us that it made the children laugh and play to see a lamb in school at first the children were busy with their lessons while the lamb oh oh dear maybe the teacher won't see she sees now everybody sees everybody but married but she can guess she's almost afraid to look [Music] only only the children laugh so [Applause] or the lamb would lie down quietly or if mary knew some magic to make herself disappear and the land disappeared and then both be back at the pond where the eye was full where there's no school look set and where mary anderson could play together quietly [Applause] but of course mary did not know any magic and school was upset and mary was afraid something awful would happen then everything was all right but there were lessons to be learned that day in school and so there was nothing for the teacher to do but take the land outside while the children waved upon goodbye the lamb was really much happier outside the school than him for he didn't know the first thing about reading and writing mostly it knew about nibbling grass and playing with mary and so the teacher turned it out but still it lingered near and waited patiently about till mary did appear [Music] when school was out for the day mary was happy to find her land still waiting for her the other children were happy too and the teacher was happy or it was not against the rule to have a lamb outside the school then the poem tells us the children asked a question why does the lamb love mary so the eager children cry why mary loves the lamb you know the teacher did reply and that's the end of the boy would you like to
