Paulines Eltern planen den Sommerurlaub. Sie sind damit so beschäftigt, dass sie nicht hören, was ihre Tochter staunend bemerkt: ein lautes Pferdewiehern über dem Himmel von Kreuzberg. Sie weiß nicht warum, aber es weckt ihre Sehnsucht nach ihren Großeltern. Doch die Eltern wollen in den Ferien nicht zu Oma und Opa nach Bottrop, sondern nach Teneriffa oder Kenia. Pauline wird wegen einer Blinddarmreizung ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert. Dort lernt sie Leila, ein türkisches Mädchen kennen, das von ihren Großeltern in der Türkei erzählt, wie schön es dort ist und dass nachts wilde Pferde am Haus vorbeilaufen. Paulines Vater missbilligt die neue Freundschaft. Unter dem Vorwand, dass Leilas Familie zu viel Unruhe ins Krankenzimmer trägt, wird Pauline verlegt. Am nächsten Tag darf Leila nach Hause. Pauline ist wütend: Wie soll sie in dieser großen Stadt ihre türkische Freundin wiederfinden, um mehr von ihr, von Dede und Nine und den wilden Pferden zu erfahren. Da hört sie das geheimnisvolle Wiehern über Kreuzberg wieder, und sie macht sich auf die Suche. (Erstausstrahlung im ZDF am 08.12.1991) Pauline's parents are planning their summer vacation. They are so busy with this that they don't hear what their daughter notices in amazement: a loud horse whinny over the sky of Kreuzberg. She doesn't know why, but it awakens her longing for her grandparents. But her parents don't want to visit grandma and grandpa in Bottrop for the vacations, they want to go to Tenerife or Kenya. Pauline is admitted to the hospital because of an irritated appendix. There she meets Leila, a Turkish girl who talks about her grandparents in Turkey, how beautiful it is there and that wild horses run past the house at night. Pauline's father disapproves of the new friendship. Under the pretext that Leila's family is bringing too much unrest into the sickroom, Pauline is transferred. The next day, Leila is allowed to go home. Pauline is furious: how is she supposed to find her Turkish friend again in this big city, to find out more about her, about Dede and Nine and the wild horses. Then she hears the mysterious neighing over Kreuzberg again, and she sets off in search of it. (First broadcast on ZDF: 08.12.1991)
