Viele Eltern machen sich ein falsches Bild von einer Gerichtsverhandlung, und schon die Andeutung einer Vernehmung erzeugt Vorurteile. Der Film will zeigen, dass kein Grund zur Beunruhigung gegeben ist: Die moderne Gerichtspsychologie arbeitet mit Mitteln, welche die Kinder vor den von den Eltern befürchteten Schäden bewahren. In einem Raum, der gar nichts von der Atmosphäre der üblichen Gerichtsräume an sich hat, spielen die Kinder und werden dabei von der Psychologin getestet und beobachtet, so dass ihre Aussagen vor Gericht auf ihre Zuverlässigkeit hin geprüft sind. Denn der Angeklagte beteuert seine Unschuld und weist die Zeugnisfähigkeit der Kinder zurück. Durch vorsichtige Fragen tastet sich der Vorsitzende an die Kernfragen heran, und eine Rückblende zeigt den Vorgang. Die Aussage eines Kindes führt auf die Spur, die die Vernehmung eines erwachsenen Zeugen ermöglicht und schließlich zum Abschluss der Beweisaufnahme führt. Das Gericht zieht sich zur Beratung zurück und fällt den Urteilsspruch. Many parents get the wrong idea about a court hearing, and even the hint of a hearing creates prejudices. The film wants to show that there is no need to worry: modern court psychology works with means that protect the children from the damage feared by the parents. In a room that has nothing of the atmosphere of the usual courtrooms, the children play and are tested and observed by the psychologist so that their statements in court are tested for reliability. The defendant maintains his innocence and rejects the children's ability to testify. The presiding judge uses cautious questions to get to the core issues, and a flashback shows the process. The testimony of a child leads to the trail that enables the questioning of an adult witness and ultimately leads to the conclusion of the taking of evidence.
