Der Film behandelt das Thema der Hauswirtschaftslehre auf anerkannten Lehrbetrieben. Er erzählt die Geschichte zweier junger Mädchen, die im elterlichen Betrieb arbeiten, aber mit ihren Arbeitsbedingungen nicht ganz zufrieden sind. Anna aus Norddeutschland fühlt sich zu Hause von ihrer Mutter zu sehr bevormundet und möchte gerne einmal auf einen anderen Betrieb. Marianne, von einem kleinen Hof in Süddeutschland, will schon gar nicht mehr in der Landwirtschaft bleiben, sondern ginge am liebsten in die Stadt. Eines Tages trifft die Wirtschaftsberaterin Marianne und schlägt ihr einen Lehrlingsaustausch vor. So kommt Marianne zu Annas Eltern und Anna zu Mariannes Tante. Der Film zeigt nun, wie die beiden Mädchen sich in der neuen Umgebung zurechtfinden müssen und sie nach mancherlei Heimweh und Umstellungen letzten Endes doch froh sind, dass sie einmal von zu Hause fort waren und in der Fremdlehre lernen mussten, sich einzufügen. Dass sie gleichzeitig in diesem Jahr Fremdlehre noch einen soliden Grundstein für ihren ländlich-hauswirtschaftlichen Beruf gelegt haben, wird ihnen am Schluss des Filmes zu einer beruhigenden Gewissheit. Bemerkenswert: In diesem Kurzfilm von 1951 spielte der viel zu früh verstorbene Schauspieler Herbert Mensching seine allererste Filmrolle. The film deals with the topic of home economics on recognized training farms. It tells the story of two young girls who work in their parents' business but are not entirely satisfied with their working conditions. Anna from northern Germany feels too patronized by her mother at home and would like to work on a different farm. Marianne, from a small farm in southern Germany, doesn't want to stay in agriculture at all, but would prefer to go to the city. One day, the business advisor meets Marianne and suggests an apprenticeship exchange. So Marianne comes to live with Anna's parents and Anna with Marianne's aunt. The film shows how the two girls have to find their way in their new surroundings and how, after some homesickness and changes, they are ultimately glad that they have been away from home and had to learn to fit in during their apprenticeship abroad. At the end of the film, they are reassured by the fact that they have also laid a solid foundation for their rural and domestic professions during this year of apprenticeship abroad. Remarkable: In this short film from 1951, the actor Herbert Mensching, who died far too early, played his very first film role.
