Folgende Schwerpunkte werden gesetzt: Morgentoilette der Hausherrin, Kinderspiele, Unterricht und Abendessen (cena) mit einem Gast. In der Einführungsphase des Films werden Kenntnisse über das Römische Reich, über Rom und das Leben in einer italienischen Kleinstadt (Herculaneum) vermittelt (Besuch der Thermen, Wohnen in der Antike, Wasserversorgung). Set around 200 AD (at the time of Emperor Septimius Severus), the film shows scenes from the everyday life of a noble and wealthy Roman family from the colony of Augusta Raurica in the province of Germania Superior. The film focuses on the following scenes: Morning toilet of the lady of the house, children's games, lessons and dinner (cena) with a guest.
