Dieser Stummfilm zeigt die Entstehung einer Kurzfilmsequenz von der Vorbereitung über die Aufnahme bis zum Schnitt. Idealfall einer lebendigen Filmkunde ist der 'Film im Film'. Das erfordert eine klare Gliederung im Ablauf der Vorgänge, möglichst unter Wahrung eines inneren Zusammenhangs. Als Beispiel zur Veranschaulichung der Arbeitsgänge bei der Herstellung eines Films dient diesem Film eine Kurzfilmsequenz: Peter, der junge Hauptdarsteller eines Märchenfilms, schläft bei der Lektüre des Buches 'Der Dieb von Bagdad' ein und träumt, er fliege auf einem Teppich über die Stadt, bestaunt von seinen Kameraden. Wie dies nun gemacht wird, erlebt der Zuschauer in mehreren Handlungseinheiten, die sich zu einer Lektion über die Filmherstellung verbinden. Neben den rein technischen Vorgängen von den Vorbereitungen der Aufnahme bis zum Schneidetisch treten die wichtigsten Filmberufe klar hervor: Drehbuchautor, Regisseur, Kameramann, Produktions- bzw. Aufnahmeleiter, Darsteller, Cutterin. This silent film shows the creation of a short film sequence from preparation to shooting and editing. The ideal case of a lively film study is the 'film within the film'. This requires a clear structure in the sequence of events, if possible maintaining an inner coherence. As an example to illustrate the work processes in the production of a film, this film uses a short film sequence: Peter, the young leading actor of a fairy tale film, falls asleep while reading the book 'The Thief of Bagdad' and dreams that he is flying on a carpet over the city, marveled at by his comrades. The viewer experiences how this is now done in several plot units that combine to form a lesson on film making. In addition to the purely technical processes from the preparations for shooting to the editing table, the most important film professions clearly emerge: scriptwriter, director, cameraman, production or recording manager, actor, editor.
