Sie dokumentieren den Behandlungsverlauf, bewerten nach Abschluss einer Therapie deren Erfolg und rechnen therapeutische Leistungen ab. Um die Öffentlichkeit für psychische oder psychosomatische Krankheitsbilder zu sensibilisieren, erstellen sie darüber hinaus auch Informationsmaterial, halten Vorträge oder schreiben Fachartikel. Sie üben auch Gutachtertätigkeiten aus, z.B. im Rahmen von Gerichtsverfahren.
