Der 'dumme' August ist der Star im Zirkus Luna. Mit seinen Späßen begeistert der Zirkusclown Groß und Klein. Seine Frau Augustine ist als Clown mindestens ebenso begabt wie er, doch sie hat ihren Mann, drei ausgelassene Kinder und die Haustiere zu versorgen und damit einfach keine Zeit für einen öffentlichen Auftritt als Clown. So träumt sie jeden Tag davon, im Rampenlicht der Manege zu stehen, und wünscht sich, dieser Traum möge einmal in Erfüllung gehen. Ihre große Chance kommt, als August eines Tages zum Zahnarzt muss und nicht rechtzeitig zum Zirkus zurückkehrt. Die Vorstellung hat längst begonnen, doch der Clown ist noch nicht da. Der Zirkusdirektor ist verzweifelt, das Publikum wird langsam unruhig. In letzter Minute springt Augustine als Zirkusclown ein. Die Zuschauer sind begeistert. In Zukunft tritt Augustine nur noch gemeinsam mit ihrem Mann in der Manege auf. (Erstausstrahlung im ZDF am 25.12.1995) 'Stupid' August is the star of Circus Luna. The circus clown delights young and old alike with his jokes. His wife Augustine is at least as talented a clown as he is, but she has her husband, three boisterous children and pets to look after and therefore simply no time for a public appearance as a clown. So every day she dreams of being in the limelight of the circus ring and wishes that this dream might one day come true. Her big chance comes when August has to go to the dentist one day and doesn't return to the circus on time. The show has long since started, but the clown has not yet arrived. The circus director is desperate and the audience is getting restless. At the last minute, Augustine steps in as the circus clown. The audience is thrilled.
