Verfilmung der Sage über den Rattenfänger von Hameln aus dem Jahr 1284: Als die Stadt Hameln von einer Rattenplage heimgesucht wird, sind die Bürger zunächst machtlos. Doch eines Tages kehrt ein fahrender Spielmann in die kleine Stadt ein, dem es gelingt, mit seinem Flötenspiel alle Ratten und Mäuse aus Hameln herauszulocken und im Fluss zu ertränken. Die Stadtoberen betrügen den Spielmann jedoch um den ihm versprochenen Lohn und klagen ihn der Zauberei an. So kehrt er verkleidet in die Stadt zurück und lockt mit seinem Flötenspiel dieses Mal alle Kinder aus der Stadt. Keiner sieht sie je wieder. Film adaptation of the legend about the Pied Piper of Hamelin from 1284: When the town of Hamelin is afflicted by a plague of rats, the citizens are initially powerless. But one day a traveling minstrel arrives in the small town and succeeds in luring all the rats and mice out of Hamelin with his flute playing and drowning them in the river. However, the town authorities cheat the minstrel out of the wages he was promised and accuse him of sorcery. So he returns to the town in disguise and this time lures all the children out of town with his flute playing. No one ever sees them again.
